Twenty-four satellites around the globe processed their new orders, and instantly the accuracy of GPS technology improved tenfold. Tens of thousands of GPS receivers around the world had an instant upgrade. Prior to this date, only the military had the ability to receive accurate GPS readings. Now, people throughout the world could pinpoint their precise location. For reasons unknown, this is often referred to as the flipping of the “Big Blue Switch”. It did not take long before a group of GPS enthusiasts decided to play a little game with this. A bucket was placed in the woods to see if anyone could find it... The Coins measure approximately 4,5 cm in diameter. They are trackable at Geocaching.com with a unique icon. Notes from the designer, Chris Mackey: The Goddess Cybele is probably the most mysterious goddess in the Greek pantheon. She arrives into the pantheon from foreign lands of unknown origin on a lion-drawn chariot. Her entourage bears grapes and wine in great urns to the sound of a wild beating and primal music. She is the goddess of earth, stone, caves and mysterious hidden places. She inspires wild new imaginings in the arts, architecture and particularly workings of stone and earth such as great walls and catacombs. To a smaller degree she is also goddess of animals that are secretive in nature and all lions. She is the wild goddess of the dark, the hidden passages, the caverns and caves both natural and man-made, wines, libations, wild music and fantastic imaginations. She inspires us to think outside the box and explore hidden places and nature's reclusive treasures.

The Mighty Zeus: Part 12 of 12 in the series This series of special Geocoins is now complete! Collect the entire series, or just the ones that inspire you the most. The Coins measure approximately 4,5 cm in diameter. They are trackable at Geocaching.com with a unique icon. Notes from the designer, Chris Mackey: On the face side we have Zeus in his position of judgement or rule which is a sitting position with the staff of his office in hand. He is depicted with an eagle as a symbol of his rule over the heavens, one of the three provinces divided among his brothers and Gaia. Zeus wears the horns of the ram on his brow and while I initially thought it had to do with his demeanor, it was apparently common to see him depicted thus as one of the most pro-creative of gods in the Pantheon. He sires hundreds of children through gods, demi-gods, mortals and fey creatures during his rule. His name is punctuated with his symbol of the lightning bolt, his weapon of choice. I found it interesting that after the escape of Cronus he is the oldest brother followed by the other gods who were born prior to himself but held in the purgatory of Cronus' belly. He was born last, but becomes the oldest through this act and the champion of all gods who come after when he defeats both his father and the titan rule of the universe that came before his birth. I had never realized before, but as the oldest of three brothers, he has a lightning bolt spear with a single stabbing tine. Brother number 2, Hades, has a 2 tined bident. Brother number 3, Poseidon, has a 3 tined trident. On the reverse side, we pay tribute to his office as a fair ruler among the gods and mortals alike. His symbol is the bull and the oak. The strength and ferocity of the bull, the resilience and patience of the oak are both primary attributes in the stories of his life. He is beset by hundreds of tests, tribulations, attacks and trials designed to bring him down or strip him of office, but time after time he is victorious and earns the laurel crown of victory. The words "Patre Omnia" or Father of All bracket the bull and are bookended by the scales of justice.

Do you speak the language of geocaching? When you find a geocache do you triumphantly declare "I came, I saw, I conquered"? We think you do. Geocachers tend to like puzzles, codes, finding hidden things and all kinds of challenges. It's what makes us geocachers! Rot13 was actually developed by Julius Caesar (or maybe someone he knew) in the 1st century BC, and rumor has it he loved geocaching. It is a simple letter substitution that replaces a letter of the alphabet with the letter that is 13 letters after it. Have you ever wondered how the messages are coded on geocache hints? It's Rot13 of course. This gold finish version of one our classics not only has amazing detail, but also works as a Rot13 decoder, a key chain, and is trackable at geocaching.com! With all that going for it, we think Caesar would have loved it. This geocoin measures approximately 4,5 cm across. For more info on this geocoin, here are some design thoughts from Christian Mackey: The delta has been used here above and below because change (particularly in a ROT13 setting) is infinitely variable. By bracketing + or - values to either the top row or bottom row you can have an infinite number of possibilities encoding a message. Keys in Rome were often symbolic depictions of access both physical and mental. A physical encoding of a message reveals enlightenment of knowledge to solve a cache riddle or hint. The phrase Veni, Vidi, Vici is a phrase translating to "I Came, I Saw, I Conquered (overcame)" attributed to the same Julius Caesar credited with inventing the encoding technique we now refer to as ROT13. I love the idea of combining his words, his ideas and the influential symbology of his time all in one design. The embellishments throughout both sides are common to Roman architecture and stained glass Rose window patterns.

What does hunting for geocaches have in common with hunting Zombies? The gear of course! When we realized that the best gear for geocaching is also the best gear for Zombie Hunting, we knew we had to put together a collection. Fortunately, we were able to get a picture of a well equipped Geocacher, who just happened to run into a pack of Zombies! From that picture, our very own Roxxy went to work to put together a coin to commemorate those who fight the good fight (against Zombies and hard to find geocaches). This coin is worthy of any collection, and also serves as a badge for the Romero County Zombie Hunters. The front features a classic Zombie Hunter/Geocacher, while the back is inspired by brain sucking Lackeys! If you do not want to send your coin out into the wild, do not fear! The coin comes with a tag with the matching tracking code, so that can go on tour while the badge goes hunting with you. Coin Measures 5 cm point to point and is 0,3 cm thick.
