A special piece of geocaching history – now available to everyone. In 2015, the international reviewer community launched a special geocoin project called “Supporting the Game.” At the time, these coins were available exclusively to Community Volunteers and so-called Lackeys – the employees of Geocaching HQ. Many of the coins were later given as surprise gifts to dedicated members of the geocaching community. The new “Friends of the Frog Public Edition” brings this wonderful idea back to life. In addition to an edition reserved exclusively for reviewers, a version have been created for public sale for the first time. This allows many more geocachers to own a piece of this special community history, while reviewers can continue to surprise community members with their own exclusive edition, which is not available anywhere else. Reviewers are highly experienced geocachers who volunteer their time to support the community. Before a newly hidden geocache is published on Geocaching.com, a reviewer checks the submitted cache listing against the general geocaching guidelines and any applicable regional policies. If information is missing or changes are required, the reviewer contacts the cache owner to clarify the details. Once the cache meets all the requirements, the reviewer publishes it.
